For the 2026 11th Seoktap Research Award, Professor Baek Seungpil of the Department of Biotechnology and Bioinformatics, Professor Kim Hwi of Electronics and Information Engineering, and Professor Kim Jaeyoung of the Department of Standards and Intelligence have been selected as recipients. In addition, Professor Lee Hyungeun of the Department of AI Semiconductor Engineering received the KU Internationalization Award.

 

Since 2016, Korea University has presented the Seoktap Research Award to recognize full-time faculty members whose outstanding research achievements have contributed to enhancing the University's research excellence and to foster a research culture that encourages the sustained production of high-quality scholarly work. The KU Internationalization Award was established to honor full-time faculty members who have contributed to the University's internationalization and to promote active international research collaboration.

 

For the 11th Seoktap Research Award, candidates were evaluated based on their academic journal publications, scholarly books, and externally funded research projects conducted between January and December 2025. The assessment of research quality was based on achievements from January 2024 through December 2025. Recipients were selected from among the top 3 percent of researchers in each academic division through a comprehensive evaluation of research quality and quantity, as well as contributions to indirect cost recovery from externally funded research projects. Additional evaluation criteria included serving as the first or corresponding author of papers published in NSC-level journals, publishing multiple internationally collaborative research papers as the lead author, and demonstrating outstanding contributions to indirect cost recovery through externally funded research projects within their respective academic fields.
