The University Job Center at Korea University Sejong organized the 2026 International Student Career Development Lecture Series conducted in Chinese as part of the 2026 University Innovation Support Project to strengthen the employment competencies of international students.

 

The program was designed for international undergraduate students at Korea University to enhance their understanding of the Korean job market and equip them with practical skills needed throughout the employment preparation process. The lecture series was conducted in person on April 29, May 14, and May 27, attracting a total of 91 participants.

 

International students often face challenges in accessing information on Korea's visa system, recruitment procedures, and employer expectations, making systematic career support essential. In response, the University Job Plus Center developed a step-by-step, practice-oriented program covering key aspects of the job search process from understanding the Korean employment environment to preparing résumés and cover letters, developing interview skills, and applying for positions.

 

The first session focused on employment strategies based on visa types and legal residency options. Participants learned about visa transition pathways, the types of companies more likely to hire international employees, strategies for securing internships and contract positions that may lead to full-time employment, and ways to build qualifications and experience while considering long-term residency opportunities.

 

The second session covered AI-assisted resume and cover letter writing strategies. Students gained an understanding of the qualities Korean employers seek in international candidates and learned how to effectively present their strengths in relation to specific job requirements. They also practiced drafting cover letters using generative AI tools and developed strategies for preparing résumés that take visa status and residency requirements into account.

 

The third session focused on interview preparation and practical job application strategies. Students learned how to transform the content of their cover letters into effective interview responses, structure answers using the STAR method, strengthen key sections of their résumés, and prepare actual job applications through demonstrations using Korean recruitment platforms.

 

The program was particularly meaningful in providing comprehensive support throughout the entire employment preparation process for international students. By systematically addressing essential topics including visas, recruitment procedures, application documents, interview preparation, and job applications and incorporating AI-based résumé and cover letter writing exercises, the program strengthened participants' practical career readiness.

 

The University Job Center plans to continue offering customized career support programs that help international students better understand the Korean job market while enabling them to effectively present their experiences and strengths throughout the recruitment process.
