Global Experts in AI, Mobility, and Digital Healthcare to Gather in Sejong
Building a Sejong-Style Global Science and Technology MICE Platform Linking Talent Development and R&D Collaboration

 

From July 13 to 17, the Sejong RISE Project Group at Korea University Sejong Campus hosted the 2026 Sejong K-Science Week, bringing together future strategic industries and global collaboration initiatives.

 

The event is the flagship program of Unit Project 5, “Establishing Sejong as the Capital of Hangeul Culture and Fostering the MICE Industry,” promoted by the Sejong RISE Project Group. It was designed to build a global cooperation network aligned with Sejong City’s future strategic industries. The main event, the Global K-Science Conference, took place from July 16 to 17 at the Government Sejong Convention Center.

 

The 2026 Sejong K-Science Week serves as a science, technology, and industry convergence platform aimed at fostering global collaboration and cultivating future talent leaders in Sejong City's strategic sectors, including artificial intelligence (AI), mobility, and digital healthcare. Experts, companies, universities, and research institutions from Korea and abroad participated to share the latest research achievements, discuss industry trends, and explore opportunities for collaboration.

 

In particular, the event was developed based on the findings of the Survey and Analysis of the MICE Industry in Sejong City and the Chungcheong Region, conducted during the first year of the Sejong RISE Project. It adopts a week-long MICE model that integrates education, conferences, and industry-academia collaboration to realize Sejong’s MICE strategy of maximizing local impact by enhancing regional economic value and city branding.

The program consists of four major components: the Sejong Future Strategic Industry Education Program for high school students, the Sejong Global MICE Academy for university students, the Global K-Science Conference, and an Industry-Academia Collaboration & Open Innovation Program.

 

From July 13 to 15, the Sejong Future Strategic Industry Education Program was offered at local high schools in Sejong City. Experts in AI, mobility, and digital healthcare visited schools to introduce cutting-edge technologies and industry trends, helping students explore future career opportunities and deepen their understanding of emerging industries.

 

Running from July 13 to 17, the Sejong Global MICE Academy provided university students with practical training in MICE industry fundamentals, project planning and management, content development, and marketing. Participants were matched one-on-one with companies based in Sejong to work on real-world industry projects. They also attended special lectures by global MICE professionals and participate in the Global K-Science Conference, gaining firsthand experience in international event management and industry practices. On the final day, students presented their capstone projects, with outstanding teams receiving awards and professional feedback to further strengthen their practical competencies.

 

From July 16 to 17, the Global K-Science Conference brought together leading domestic and international experts in AI, mobility, and digital healthcare to present the latest research findings and industry developments. Through keynote speeches and expert sessions, participants discussed global technology trends, future directions for international cooperation, and strategies for expanding collaboration among academia, industry, and research institutions.

 

An Industry-Academia Collaboration and Open Innovation Program was also held throughout the event. The program facilitated R&D consulting and technology exchanges between Sejong-based companies and domestic and international experts. The Sejong Regional Industry Promotion Agency served as a bridge for collaboration by recruiting local companies, identifying industry needs, and organizing business meetings. Participating companies explored opportunities for joint research, technology transfer, commercialization, and international cooperation while identifying follow-up R&D projects and establishing long-term global partnerships.

 

Through this event, the Sejong RISE Project Group aims to establish a Sejong-style global science and technology MICE platform that organically connects education, international exchange, industry-academia collaboration, and corporate partnerships. The initiative also seeks to foster a sustainable innovation ecosystem based on regional specialization and open innovation.
