On May 28, The Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation at Korea University Sejong Campus held the ‘SEMO STAR K’ Learning Outcomes Showcase for the 2026 Spring Semester Innovative SEMO Class in the Science and Technology Building I.

 

The event was organized to promote the values of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) through SEMO Class, Sejong Campus’s flagship educational innovation model, while discovering and sharing outstanding achievements from innovative courses.

Centered on the theme, “What did you learn through SEMO Class, and how did you contribute to the community?”, the showcase featured presentations from six student teams. 

 

Their projects included: A cultural heritage exhibition project at the Sejong City Public Library, a hands-on project exploring Joseon-era science and technology through the Annals of King Sejong, a digital literacy education project for senior citizens in Sejong City, a project on the current status of support for multicultural students and recommendations for improvement, a generative AI dissemination model education project, and a Korean language education project using the metaverse for multicultural children. 

 

Through these presentations, students shared how they applied the knowledge and competencies gained in class to benefit the local community and society.

 

Awards were presented based on the completeness of content, presentation skills, and the value of knowledge sharing. The Grand Prize was awarded to Team Onsaemi for its “Sejong City Public Library Cultural Heritage Exhibition Project.” Excellence Awards went to Team Ido for its “Joseon Science and Technology Experience Project through the Annals of King Sejong” and Team ZEP Ssage 1deunhajo for its “Metaverse-based Korean Language Education Project for Multicultural Children.” Merit Awards were presented to Team Memory Lab for its “Digital Literacy Education Project for Senior Citizens in Sejong City,” Team City Hanspoon for its “Support for Multicultural Students: Current Status and Improvement Project,” and Team REAL Stars for its “Generative AI Dissemination Model Education Project.”

 

Hong Jongyeol, Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning Innovation, stated, “Our university’s SEMO Class, based on the learning-and-sharing model, has become a sustainable educational innovation model in which the university and the local community grow together, building on its selection as an official UNESCO project. We will continue to expand this collaborative educational innovation model between the university and the community in a stable and sustainable manner.”

 

Relatedly, the SEMO Class learning-and-sharing program was selected as an official UNESCO Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) Project in 2025, earning external recognition for its educational excellence and learning outcomes. Building on this achievement, approximately 200 students participated in learning-and-sharing projects during the first semester of the 2026 academic year, extending the knowledge they acquired in class into meaningful service and community engagement. 

 

Through a variety of projects, students contributed to solving local community issues while fostering educational growth grounded in sustainable values.
