Visits MWC Shanghai and Explores Global Industry Sites Linked to the 5+1 Future Strategic Industries

 

From June 23 to 27, the Sejong RISE Project Group at Korea University Sejong Campus operated the '2026 Sejong Handuri Supporters Global Program' in Shanghai, China.

 

The Handuri Supporters is a student ambassador group established to promote and encourage participation in the Handuri Campus, Sejong's shared university initiative. The group consists of students from Korea University Sejong Campus, Hongik University Sejong Campus, Korea University of Media Arts, Chungbuk National University, and Hanbat National University.

 

A total of 25 students from the first cohort participated in the five-day program. The initiative was designed to provide firsthand experience of global industrial sites related to the 5+1 Future Strategic Industries, Future Mobility, Digital Healthcare, Information Security, Broadcasting·Video·Media, Digital Content, and Quantum Technology, and to promote the value of Handuri Campus from the perspective of young people.

 

Participants visited MWC Shanghai 2026, Asia's largest mobile and ICT exhibition organized by the GSMA. The event attracted approximately 37,300 participants from 143 countries and regions, where the students explored cutting-edge technologies including the AI economy, 6G innovation, and humanoid robotics, gaining insight into the latest trends in the global ICT and AI industries.

 

The supporters also experienced autonomous driving by riding self-driving vehicles at Baidu Apollo Park, which operates the Apollo Go (Luobo Kuaipao) autonomous ride-hailing service, and observed vehicle-to-everything (V2X) demonstration environments. They later visited AI and robotics company DeepBlue Technology, where they learned about intelligent robots and industrial automation applications. Through Q&A sessions with experts, participants further enhanced their understanding of related technologies and industry trends.

 

During the exhibition and company visits, the supporters planned and produced their own social media content, including photos and videos. The completed content will be used in future promotional materials for Handuri Campus, helping share the experiences and insights gained from global industrial sites with local communities through the perspectives of young people.

 

An official from the Sejong RISE Project Group at Korea University Sejong Campus stated, "This global program provided a meaningful opportunity for Handuri Supporters to experience firsthand the latest global trends in the 5+1 Future Strategic Industries and communicate the value of Handuri Campus in the language of young people. We will continue to support a variety of activities so that the supporters can grow into key ambassadors for Sejong's shared university initiative, Handuri Campus."
